Business coaching

At Shirlaws, our business coaching solution is designed to meet your specific business needs, timeframes and financial considerations.

Often business coaching involves coaching the whole business entity, which is particularly useful when change is needed quickly.  By coaching the whole business or team, a common language develops which fast-tracks initiatives, provides leverage and builds real business skills quicker. This coaching can take several forms - Shirlaws coaches help guide their clients to choosing the structure of support and depth of coaching and implementation that is right for their company.

Business Coaching Programs Projects Workshops

Coaching Program

Typically a business coaching solution involves:

  1. A Brief – this usually involves a Fact Find, including interviews of key management and staff, and an Analysis of the strategic and operational issues and opportunities.
  2. Presentation of Findings and Recommendations – this is a great opportunity for management and staff to gain fresh insights and understanding of the business.

We identify the key issues and recommend a focus on up to 3 specific areas of business strategy, documenting this in a Coaching Program.

We also help our clients to get clear what Return on Investment (ROI) they are seeking, in both commercial and cultural terms.

Once clients are clear on the 3 areas of focus, they choose what type and level of support they want from their Shirlaws business coach.
  3. Business Coaching for Effective Implementation – many clients ask us to support them to design their strategy and implementation plans, and coach them through the implementation phase to achieve their full commercial and cultural uplift.

Projects

When you know what absolutely, positively has to change, external Coaching can help a project team research, document and agree to realistic objectives. Project Coaching is more focused on a specific aspect of the business that offers the most opportunity, and Shirlaws uses this focus to work with teams to design a the Strategy and specific an implementation path and outcomes.

Side benefits from project coaching usually include the refinement of productive team meetings, developing a culture that supports open and practical discussions, and alignment within a business, division or team around a clear decision-making process. As a project moves into implementation, these factors allow businesses to fully deliver on a project’s potential, before moving on to the next exciting opportunity.

Shirlaws also helps raise awareness of exactly what needs to change, and brings a perspective to project work that ensure any core issues are addressed. We also contribute our intellectual property, which is designed to align teams and provide speed to the process so the best outcome is achieved in the quickest time.

An example of a coaching project would be to build a united communication platform or improve communication skills in one of your teams or across the business.  Shirlaws would utilise the Think Feel Know framework to support the implementation of these projects.

Workshops

One-to-Many Coaching overcomes the communication blocks that prevent new concepts being embraced by a management team or staff members. Shirlaws workshops vary from facilitation at annual or quarterly strategic retreats to more focused workshop programs within a mid-tier company or large corporation.

Interactive workshops leverage existing knowledge in the room, and adults learn through experience which means our interaction leads to better understanding and implementation than traditional ‘classroom-style’ events. The most common topics are Sales Training and Leadership coaching, with all workshops tailored to the unique history and objectives of an individual company.

In addition to offering our own training across the 20 key areas of business e.g Communication Skills (using Think Feel Know framework), Managing your clients expectation (using our Standards and Extra's framework) Managing Resources and Staff (using our Red Blue Black framework), Shirlaws can work to leverage any existing training a business has invested in. A business delivers maximum value through full implementation of training ideas, and coaching works to bridge the gap between a training idea and actual staff change for better implementation. Half to Full day Workshops are available, with ‘Playbooks’ provided where beneficial.
