Sonya Trau

Sonya joined Shirlaws growing Brisbane based coaching team in 2008.  Her passion is working with business leaders to achieve the changes they seek as they strategically grow their businesses. She loves helping clients to achieve clarity of vision and build practical strategies to get there.  Most of all, she appreciates the importance of building a strong culture of personal responsibility, to enable businesses to successfully achieve sustainable positive change.

Sonya brings to her clients, a wealth of practical experience in business leadership, driving strong commercial success in both large multi-national corporate and local start up environments.  She has a deep background in technology, intellectual property, sales & channel management, customer relations, and commercialisation.  

Sonya has always had a passion for learning and growth through new challenges.  She started her work life as a scientist with the CSIRO, started and grew a dominant successful software licensing business in the mid ‘90s, held a number of regional management roles with Microsoft Corporation and has held board positions in Tech start-ups.

Canadian born, Sonya holds an MBA, specialising in Entrepreneurship and New Venture Management, and a 1^st Class Honours degree in Science (University of Queensland).  She is married with two delightful little girls and  loves being in the outdoors, boating, skiing, yoga, and jazz and tap dancing with other ‘mature and motivated’ individuals.
